The author outlined perfectly how we can expect to hear from God. Setting up a time to read God’s word, a steady diet of the Bible help us grow spiritually. I like what the Bible says in Ephesians 4:14 that says that we will no longer be children tossed back and forth by every wind of doctrine/teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men. We will know God for ourselves through his word. Hallelujah!!!  I have come to love spending time in the Word, it strengthens the inner man.

The group exercise in chapter 5 is asking to share a scripture or verse that has recently had personal meaning to us. The scripture that meant a lot for me lately is John 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you (NIV). In other words, if I spend enough time in the word, I will begin to want what God wants. So when I ask God something, it is like God in me asking, my will and God’s will are intertwined, and there is no room for selfishness in my heart. Therefore, I can not ask God for something that is ill-motivated, but out of a pure conscience, because I abide in him. Thank God for Holy-Spirit revealing it to me that way.

Fellow book club friends, please take time to share what scripture has been a blessing to you this week.
